What are the best container plants?
Most of the plants that make good garden plants generally make good container plants also. While selecting the that can add sparkle to your container garden, it only depends upon the climate and your imagination. In areas where the climate is tropical or temperate, you can have a long lasting garden but even then you may want to change the plants from time to time.
While selecting the top container plants, you must keep in mind the speed at which the plant grows and the size of the container. A typical container garden plant should not be very fast growing as in such cases the plant will outgrow the pots and which may not look attractive.
For a container garden to look attractive, it is necessary that the height of the plant should not be more than twice the height of the pot and the width of the plant should not be more than 1.5 times the width of the pot. The position of the pots also play an important role as there are some which require a lot of sunlight and if the container is placed in a position where sunlight is not ample, the plant may not survive long.

For spring season early flowering shrubs like Azalea and Lilac, bloomers like Ferns, Pansies, Primrose etc., cool vegetables such as greens and Lettuce makes ideal container plants. Herbs, Ornamental Glasses, Miniature roses, and warm season vegetables like tomato, Squash and edible flowers make very good pot plants in summers.
Annuals in Rebloom like Begonia, Impatiens and fall bloomers like Heather, Gentian, Daisies and Mums etc are good pot plants for Fall season. In winter season the evergreen plants like Wintergreen, Juniper, Boxwood and Privet makes best urn plants.
Apart from the season, finest pot plants are also selected upon their nature of growth so as to add the required attraction to the container garden. For making your garden look blooming and full of greenery, fillers such as Creeping Jenny, Ivy, 
Moss, Spider Plants, Sweet potato Vines, Artemisia etc. serves the purpose. For adding height to the garden looks, Fountain grass, Elephant ear, Angels Trumpet and Salvia plant etc. are commonly utilized.
A great advantage that goes with selecting best container plants is that you can keep experimenting and changing the plants whenever needed.
